Easy Sock Bun

Top view of the sock bun.
If you're like me, you've got a lot to do and some days -- well, you just don't feel like taking the time to straighten or curl your hair.  That- and you're sick of putting your hair up in a plain ‘ole ponytail.  The solution?  A simple sock bun with a braid.  It's quick, fast, and easy!  All you need is a sock bun roll (make it yourself by cutting off the end of a sock and rolling it into a donut shape or purchase one like these), a few bobby pins, elastic bands, and a hair brush.  Make sure your sock bun roll is similar to your hair color so that it camouflages!  You can get the look above with either dirty or clean hair.  I find that it is a little easier to work with hair that is dirty.

So let's get started!  Brush your hair into a high ponytail and put it at the crown of your head.  If you have bangs, you can leave them or bobby pin the back for more of a sleek look.

Once you have your ponytail secure, put the sock bun roll around your ponytail.  It will look a little bit like a scrunchie.

Then, fan your hair around the sock to cover it completely.  Secure an elastic band around the sock bun.  Almost done!

Last, gather the loose hair into two sections.  Braid one section and wrap it around the bun.  Then, braid the other section and wrap it around the rest of the hair.

Voilà!  You have an easy, gorgeous sock bun that looks like it took you a lot longer to create than it really did.

Please let me know if you have any future blog requests!
