Pixi Chix

As promised, every now and again I would like to feature a locally owned business or organization.   Pixi Chix is a boutique located in Lincoln, NE specializing in personalized handmade items.  In fact, you can be the designer if you'd like to!  I've found Pixi Chix clothing and accessories at other local boutiques and retailers including; Scheel's, NJ & Co, Mesh, and Apricot Lane.  The items are unique & fun!  If you don't live in the Nebraska area you can order online through www.pixichix.com.

Though Pixi Chix carries all kinds of Nebraska spirit wear, they also have items specific to various holidays and events, as well as Greek apparel.   If  you are looking for something particular, you can host a trunk show at your home.  Recently, I did just that, and I thought I'd share my experience.

The trunk show was a lot of fun.  Our consultant brought a variety of items to my house as well as fabrics.  Essentially, you choose your item (hat, headband, scarf, or top) and fabric that you would like to have the personalization sewn on.  Pixi Chix can also sew various shapes (hearts, footballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, etc.) on your piece.  It was a lot of fun for me to pick out and "design" gifts for family members as well as a little something for my daughter.  Items ordered do take 4-6 weeks to complete and ship to you.  So, you do have to plan ahead (i.e. I didn't order any tank tops because it would be too cold to wear them before I received the item.)

Now, I've always been honest on my blog... So, I will share the "hiccup" that occurred almost 6 weeks after the trunk show.  I called the store to check-in on our orders and was told that my party's orders did not arrive to them on time, so it would be an additional 3 weeks before our orders were complete (not my fault, the party consultant dropped them off in Lincoln several weeks after our order was placed).  If you read any of the online Pixi Chix Facebook reviews, you will notice that the amount of time it takes to receive merchandise is often cited as an issue.  It was embarrassing that I had to contact all of my friends who attended and ordered from Pixi Chix to say it would be an additional three weeks before they received their orders.   However, the company said they would go ahead and throw in free beanies to each person's order!  I think that really helped everyone become more excited about their orders!

So - getting to the point.  Would I order again?  Would I recommend this company?  No, I probably won't ever order something personalized again.  However, I would purchase from the Pixi Chix boutique.  The items are great quality and I wouldn't have to worry about the ship time since the items are ready-to-wear.  I also appreciated the great customer services.

My merchandise is due to ship to me in November.  I will definitely update on my full trunk show experience at that time.  Fingers crossed that everything else goes smoothly - the items really are very cute!
