Red Light on Red Lips?

I've tried to pull off wearing red lipstick before, and apparently, I look like a clown.  Or, so I'm told at least.  My husband adamantly says that he doesn't like the look.  And, it’s not because it leaves a lipstick mark if I kiss him, but because he really thinks it looks like I've joined the circus.  Now, I have to admit, I appreciate his honesty.  I know some women would have a hard time hearing a statement like that, but I would rather him tell me the truth.  And, I know he's not alone.  Surprisingly enough, Hugh Hefner doesn't care for red lipstick either.  And, I thought he loved old Hollywood glam!

Anyways, I got to thinking... I wonder how other people feel about this?!  I mean, if you look at all of the celebrities, they wear red lipstick all the time.  Marilyn Monroe looked stunning in it, and today you always see photos with everyone from Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, and Scarlett Johansson wearing red lipstick.  I feel like it looks so glamorous and can really give off that vintage appeal.  I personally love the look, but maybe it really doesn't look right on me.  Or, maybe I just have the wrong shade of red.  I know I’ve got the personality that could pull it off! 

I’m curious though, what do you think?  Should red lipstick be left to the celebrities?  Or, do you love it?  Hate it?  Please comment below to share how you feel (or how the man in your life feels) about red lipstick.
